Wheel loaders

Wheel loaders are among the most versatile and widely deployed machines in construction, mining, and municipal operations. Whether handling bulk material in a quarry, loading trucks at a port terminal, or clearing snow at an airport — the wheel loader is the universal solution wherever fast loading, transport, and dumping of material is required. IPS GmbH Germany supplies spare parts for wheel loaders from all leading manufacturers worldwide, with fast international delivery from Germany and expert technical support for B2B customers.

What Is a Wheel Loader?

A wheel loader is a self-propelled earthmoving machine on rubber tyres, equipped with a hydraulically operated boom and bucket or attachment. Unlike crawler excavators, wheel loaders offer higher travel speeds, better manoeuvrability on paved surfaces, and minimal damage to ground surfaces — making them particularly popular in bulk handling operations, quarries, ports, steel plants, and municipal services.

Wheel loaders are built across weight classes from under 3 tonnes (compact wheel loaders) to over 200 tonnes (mining wheel loaders such as the Komatsu WA1200 or CAT 994). Their articulated steering frame gives a tight turning radius and high flexibility in confined working areas — a decisive advantage on crowded construction sites and in enclosed industrial facilities.

Common Wheel Loader Brands and Models

IPS GmbH Germany supplies spare parts for all listed models and manufacturers:

Caterpillar (CAT) — 906, 908, 926, 930, 938, 950, 966, 980, 988
Globally recognised for durability, long-term spare parts availability, and a comprehensive service network. The CAT 9-series covers the full range from compact to heavy-duty wheel loaders.

Volvo — L30, L45, L60, L70, L90, L110, L120, L150, L180, L220
Combines high performance with energy efficiency and operator comfort. The Volvo L-series is particularly prevalent on construction sites, in quarries, and in port operations across Northern Europe and internationally.

Komatsu — WA100, WA200, WA320, WA380, WA470, WA500, WA600
Reliable and easy to maintain — widely used in municipal and industrial applications and in medium-sized quarries.

Liebherr — L506, L514, L524, L538, L546, L576, L586
Engineered and manufactured in Europe, known for innovative technology and premium build quality. Liebherr wheel loaders are particularly popular with German and European construction and building materials operations.

We also supply spare parts for wheel loaders from Hitachi (ZW series), Doosan, Hyundai, Case, JCB, Manitou, Wacker Neuson, Bobcat, and other manufacturers.

Wheel Loader Spare Parts — Our Range

IPS GmbH Germany supplies spare parts for all major assemblies on wheel loaders:

Drivetrain and Transmission

The drivetrain on a wheel loader is subject to extreme stress — accelerating under load, frequent direction changes, and high travel speeds place heavy demands on the transmission, axles, and differentials. We supply:

Transmission and gearbox components — clutch discs, friction plates, seal kits, and control valve blocks for torque converter and hydrostatic transmissions across all major wheel loader series.

Axles and differentials — drive shafts, axle housings, planetary gear sets, differential assemblies, and axle seals for front and rear axles.

Brake components — brake pads, brake discs, brake cylinders, and brake hydraulic components for wet disc brakes (oil-immersed) in wheel loader axles.

Propeller shafts — cardan shafts between engine, transmission, and axles, including universal joints and sliding yokes.

Hydraulic System

Implement pumps and steering pumps — gear pumps and axial piston pumps for the working hydraulic circuit and power steering.

Lift cylinders and tilt cylinders — for the boom (lift) and bucket (tilt) with complete seal kits for all standard bore sizes.

Control valves — main control valves and priority valves for steering and implement hydraulics.

Hydraulic filters — return-line and pressure filters to maintain oil cleanliness and extend hydraulic system service life.

Engine and Drive

Wheel loaders are fitted with engines from Cummins, Deutz, Volvo, Cat (ACERT), Liebherr proprietary, or John Deere depending on the manufacturer and model. We supply air filters, oil filters, fuel filters, and water separators for routine maintenance; turbochargers and charge air coolers for performance-critical repairs; and full gasket sets for engine overhaul.

Steering and Running Gear

Steering cylinders — hydraulic cylinders for the articulated steering joint, including pivot pins, bushings, and seal kits.

Wheel hubs and hub reduction gears — planetary hub reductions in the front axle, bearings, and seals for wheel loader axles under heavy-duty conditions.

Electrical Systems and Controls

Sensors, switches, ECUs, joystick control units, monitors, and wiring harnesses for all major wheel loader generations — including modern CAN bus-based control architectures.

Bucket and Wear Parts

Bucket teeth, adapter plates, cutting edges (base edges), corner teeth, and bucket protection systems are high-turnover consumables — especially in gravel, limestone, iron ore, or other abrasive materials.

Mining Wheel Loaders

Beyond standard construction and industrial wheel loaders, IPS GmbH Germany supplies the mining sector with spare parts for large-scale and heavy-duty mining loaders:

Komatsu WA800, WA900, WA1200 — mining wheel loaders with bucket capacities up to 25 m³ and operating weights exceeding 200 tonnes. Deployed in Australian, Chilean, and South African open-pit mines.

Caterpillar 988, 990, 992, 994, 995 — CAT mining wheel loaders for bulk material handling in open-pit operations. The CAT 995, with a bucket capacity of 35 m³, is one of the largest production wheel loaders in the world.

Liebherr LR 1600-2, LR 1300 — European mining wheel loaders, particularly common in European and African open-pit operations.

For mining wheel loaders, we supply drivetrain and hydraulic parts as well as tyre protection chain accessories and bucket protection systems for abrasive rock classes.

Industry Applications

Wheel loaders serve virtually every segment of material handling and the construction industry. In construction, they transport and load excavated material, gravel, sand, and building supplies. In quarries and open-pit mines, mining wheel loaders move ore and crushed rock directly from the blast area. In port operations, wheel loaders scoop bulk cargo from ship holds or onto conveyor belts. In the steel industry, they handle coke, iron ore, and slag at steelworks and blast furnace operations. In municipal and winter service, wheel loaders fitted with snow blades are indispensable at airports, on roads, and in cities. In agriculture and forestry, telescopic and compact wheel loaders handle feed, timber, and material transport.
